I am a student at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. I have been writing for about seven years now, though I have many interests beyond writing itself, particularly in the theory of stories, their structure, and pedagogy of creative writing. On campus, I am the president of the Writers' Guild, a student led group which organizes weekly writing workshops for students to have their creative writing critiqued. I also run a generative writing group, which focuses on building fundamental writing skills and producing new work. I have also been involved in several online writing groups, which are now defunct.
I write poetry and flash fiction because I cannot draw, or produce any visual artwork of decency. I write things I see in my mind. If I could, most of my pieces would be accompanied by a painting.
I write longer pieces of fiction because I am obsessed with stories, and people, and the things in life that I see and hear and think and cannot express in any other way.
I also suffer from an overactive critic in my mind, and so I do not write as much as I should. My current project is to find someway to shut him up.
