We Shall Not Go Unheard

by Samuel Derrick Rosen

I am human, I am no piece of meat.
I am (womb)an.
I stand on my own two feet.
I move my own arms and legs.

I do not scramble eggs
nor do I wait for the telephone to ring
from possibly potential dates
desperate for my affections,
none of them remotely worthy.

Independent am I.  Precious my soul,
heavenly,
resplendent,
whole.

I am no piece of meat.
I have a heart, LISTEN TO IT BEAT.
OPEN YOUR EARS,
hear the absence of my fears.
I am not your bitch, not your bit on the side.
You are a witness to my pride.

We shall not go unheard
say my pink frilly knickers.
We shall not go unheard
say my eyes, beautiful and blue.
THIS IS MY BODY, I'll DO

WHAT I DAMN WELL PLEASE.
I am not your block of cheese.
I make my own decisions.
I do not stand for tyranny.
I weave my own tapestry,
with care, with compassion,
with humility.

Human means Woman
and Woman means human
and we shall have equality, we shall not go unheard.
If I want to wear
a mini skirt then I damn well will,
my body is my body, I will not be still,
I will hold my head up high.
I will not lay down and die.

We shall not go unheard, to hell with your vulgar
woman hating names.
I am not my vagina, I will not go down
in flames.

It is Woman who gives you worth.
It is Woman who gives birth.
We shall not go unheard.  We shall not go unheard.
