Epilogue as Prologue

by Samuel Derrick Rosen

The blessing of arms
The curse of hands
The body
(not quite electric)
as proof

everything is
The streets are quiet,
awash with nothing,

this epilogue
become a prologue
extends beyond the streets
and us,

into chambers where
there are no moonless skies
or predilections of suns, no trees
speaking to trees, no darkness

ostracising darkness,
just holy books unread
and salivating mouths
and things that should sleep
and things that should wake

and things that need no loving breast.
