And when the moon went down...

by Samuel Derrick Rosen

The beast that spouted love
At the heart of the world
In the style of the times
Penned a love letter
To the moon that rose
Above the giant sign that read
Welcome to the terrordome

But it didn't get
For some reason or other
It just lingered
On a table
Next to an empty bowl
And a broken clock
And a blunted knife

And when the moon went down
Degenerates threw a wake
For the death of Post-Modernism
And laughed in unison
At eternal backsliding
And the conjunction
Of tomorrow's airplanes
And the traffic
That moves always

Douse us in your mercy
O Lord!
