Looking for work

Looking for Work - Sonnet 1

My iPad is crazy like Politics ,
and morning coffee's a partisan drink.
We all know we're distracted, when the ink
the press sells, tells us how we should think.
Every morning starts in the local paper,
and by ten-ten I've skimmed through craigslist.
Some days, I just aimlessly wander
trying to find the will to persist.
— I know there are concerns bigger than mine;
— I know that I'm the captain of my ship;
— I know that some think I should grow a spine;
— I know our world's many guilt trips.
A sightseer, I want to disappear, but
I hate it here, hate it here, hate it here.
