Riddle 44 from the Exeter Book: The Key
Translated by Dianne McKnight-Warren
Curiously made thing hangs near man's thigh under garment of lord. Is pierced in front. Is strong and hard, has good position when the man his own garment above knee raises, wishes to visit the familiar hole with his dangling object's head that he of equal length often filled before.

Author's Note
Once upon a time I was an extremely poor scholar of Anglo-Saxon and I wrote many terrible translations. This is one of them. I was inspired to publish it when I read the piece about the sweet pair by Adam Sifre. Long live literary traditions!
