Who has read it? Who wants to share thoughts? Of course the book itself makes me question my mantra about staying an "online writer". Get a copy in your hands and you'll know what I mean.
I'm still digging into it but loving it. Thus far, my favorite line/passage is:
The several gym coaches, with their reflective scalps and high-cut shorts, crowded around me, blowing whistles....Foul play was suspected. They sent directly for my father. They made him stand in the middle of the gym in front of everyone and shoot free-throws to prove he was a man....He couldn't even hit the rim."
Got a chance to see Blake read Saturday at the 510 readings in Baltimore. Great stuff.
There's a good review of Scorch Atlas here - http://www.pankmagazine.com/pankblog/?p=1622
I loved it! This is Jasmine, logging in under David's name. Don't tell his wife. Really, I'm just a friend.
Anyhoo, it's such a dandy book, so happy, so much verve. Go Blake! You rock, man! You are a writer, mister!
