My children were special (And the chorus goes, "Yeah, yeah, aren't everybody's children special, ya mug?" Maybe, but mine were particularly so...).

My youngest daughter had a marvelous sense of humor and a laugh that sounded like chimes. I've been trying to remember the name of a book she thought hilarious, so that I could send it to my granddaughter, who is herself a bubble of mirth and smiles.

Could not remember it, but after some intelligent Googling, came up with this:

Marguerite, Go Wash Your Feet by Wallace Tripp is perfect, charming without a cloying ambience, funny to the point that when my daughter brought it home from the library, showed it to me, I was laughing, really laughing out loud.

The content is varied and the pictures judiciously tied to the stories and poems.

As kids books go... a masterpiece. If you can find it, get it. Make a kid happy.

Thanks, it sounds perfect! I miss those shared reading- with- a- little -kid- in- your- lap moments.

My favourite book to read with my son when he was about two was Am I Beautiful? Not laugh out loud funny but very good-humoured,loving and sweet. As long as I agreed to read some Curious George afterward, he'd sit still for it.( I still can't stand that monkey)
