  i prefer knowlson's "damned fame." bair's book is deeply flawed, and she cared little for beckett or his work, and hounded people for information. beckett didn't approve of her or her book, and calder has a good review of it here: http://www.english.fsu.edu/jobs/num04/Num4Calder.htm
