a part of something

by Kitty Boots

I'm assembled from parts
bone, muscle, sinew, tissue

they slack and degrade over time
purple bruises, aches, scars,
wrinkles, I prefer to think of them as
badges of wisdom

rather than worry and regret over poor choices

the dream-pattern in my mind
betrayed me

non-glorious pain, nightmarish images
contradict the sweet meadow
I'd imagined

flies and beetles.
turmoil in the soil
one day I'll be a part of something
