Hi Matt - thank you for the story comment! To answer your question I dug back and it looks like it was a Tin House pick: "A, a highwayman, is robbing the mails." But I also force myself to pick random ones and write something. It's exercise.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comment on Mother's Day. The story still makes me laugh, but the comment took forever to get to me for some reason. I'm looking into it.
Matt: thank you for your generous assessment of "Sight Worth Keeping in View". Glad to hear that it permits an enjoyable read and that it stands re-reading. (I'll re-read your comments most of the day and week now, I'm sure, so thanks again!) And keep up all good work with your stories.
Hi Matt. I think this is the first I've "seen" of you so great to come across your work. Thank you so much for reading Huntingtons and liking it. "See" you around.
Matt, thanx for reminding me about Borges. Calvino's essays I enjoyed, no idea why I never got to his fiction (think I was well into my "russian period" about then). --Don't know if this would mean much to an aspiring playwright, but if it helps with hearing speech and visualizing action, try writing a piece as a screenplay; a brief stint w/ screenwriting helped me into fiction proper.
Mr. Robinson: Thank you for your nod to "Tomorrows Never Written...", but now I'll have to go find some of Calvino's fiction, all I've read are essays in "The Uses of Literature", so thanks for the prompting, too. (I'm only slightly better acquainted with works of Aldo Palazzeschi.) All good wishes, from s
Hi Matt - re: sister's play, it'll be her first production if it goes through, only had readings so far. And thanks re: the novel. Spiffing it and doing agent research while deciding which one to start writing next.
Hello - thank you for your comment on "The Artist's Conk"! Just got back from 4 days in the Internet-free woods to find all the viewings. My sister is a playwright, by the way (I was a theater major myself, but bailed out of the profession).
Thanks, Matt for reading "Notebooks." This micro actually started out as a thirty page story but the maximalism just didn't work for me. Sometimes you just want an image to cut your reader. Cheers!
Hi Mathew! Thanks for reading "The Tall Man's Secret" and for your warm, generous comment. Much appreciated! I'll be by this weekend to read some of your work! :-)
Thank you, Matthew, for your comment and fave on "The Anniversary." There will be more epistolary activity in this novel, as people posture for and/or tango with each other.
Aww, Matthew, thanks. "<a href="http://www.fictionaut.com/stories/fantomas/happy-feet">Happy Feet</a>" is owed to my continued obsession with occupy issues. I must have been a tent in a former life. Hope you're well and the writing goes swimmingly, mate.
Thanks, Matthew, for the raucous response to "The Last Chance...Story Contest." Like to know that when I shoot for low humor I've hit the mark with someone.

i'm going to get suttree, thanks for the hint, looks like something i might like though usually mccarthy is not my taste...i label him as too immoral (in the sense specified by john gardner - see this recent article & <a href="http://j.mp/oQbW7o">my comment</a>).
your comment on "before the bloodbath" made me smile...it may be time to bring mccarthy back from the dead—he'd make a hell of an antagonist...thanks for commenting!
