I'm a poet and waitress, sometimes a teacher, an amateur baker and birder, and a native New Yorker. My poems have appeared in some journals, and I have a manuscript I'd love to see published someday (soon). This is my official writerly bio:
Danica Colić has received awards from the Rona Jaffe Foundation, the Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference, and the Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center. Her poems have appeared in Terrain, Arts & Letters, Pebble Lake Review, Fugue, Nimrod, The Brooklyner, and RealPoetik. Her book-length manuscript was a finalist for the Four Way Books Intro Prize and the Alice James Books Kinereth Gensler Award, and a semifinalist for the University of Wisconsin Press Brittingham and Felix Pollak Prizes. She holds an MFA from Hunter College, and lives in Brooklyn.
I'm something of a one trick pony, and poems have been my trick since I was a kid.
I believe that the work of writing poems helps me understand my life and this world. I hope I'm right.
