that night

by Gary Percesepe

if you had asked

what do you want?

i'd have answered

by holy nightfall

i want to fill my

mouth with your name

you kissed like an angel

it tingled like a cobweb

in a cave

when your lips grazed

my bare skin

a few letters detached

from my alphabet

a door opened

i passed through

and saw a blinkered

horse on a street

of cobblestones

neighing loudly

to passing cars

you kissed

me again and I was

astride your heaving

chest as the last

light of day drained

from the eastern sky

later you poured red

wine down my waiting

mouth until your shadow

disappeared and the

christmas tree blinked &

we kept on drinking
